Disaster !

This gal gave me quite a bit of trouble. I was inspired to make big wavy hair from a magazine, and I was pretty happy with it after drawing it. But after painting it it looked solid : ( Then I tried applying texture and I ruined the face. So I re-painted it, but the wax melted it horribly! So I had to resort to...sandpaper, yes she needed exfoliating. Then I re-re-painted it, coated it with gel medium and waxed it. It's ok, but not to my satisfaction, you be the judge.

Work in Progress

Currently my basic steps are: draw a face, color it, cut it. Then create a background, add the face and layer it with inks, paints, and bees wax. Truly I love every step. Thanks for looking.

Here is a picture of my latest work. I had a few problems that I had to fix, but I was able to rescue it!

Encaustic Work

Mixed Media: Pencil drawing on bristol paper, colored with pencils and acrylic paint. Background includes scrapbook and tissue papers, inks, book print, coated with bee's wax, adhered to wood with gel medium. FuN!

I'm Back

I've been out of touch for a long time. I took a soldering class and I'm contemplating a new direction for my jewelry. In the mean time I've been inspired to paint, totally amateur of course, but loving it, here is one picture I was happy with.
